What’s going on with Leupold?
« on: January 17, 2021, 07:57:03 AM »
Recently bought a new “nice” rifle(a Ruger African) and looking for a lightweight 1” tube scope for it. Really like my vx3 2.5-8x36, figured I’d pick up something similar. I was shocked to find that nobody has them in stock(I swear they were everywhere a couple weeks ago). I. Was shocked to find that pretty much the whole line has been discontinued, along with pretty much all of their normal duplex reticle scopes. Not much information on their website either.

Anyone have any clue what’s going on?  Seems like options are getting pretty slim unless you want to put some 1.5lb 30mm monstrosity on top of your rifle...

Probably supply and demand. These days everyone seems to want massive Mount Palomar optics with advanced reticles and features.

I do know they’re in the middle of some sort of remodel or facilities change but I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it. They said they couldn’t do turrets on my scope until later this year because of it

Dangerous game scopes don't sell anymore due to the Covid hysteria and lockdowns. Tactical do..

Not necessarily a dangerous game rifle, I’ve got a .375 for that :chuckle:

Mine’s a 7x57, “African” just means it’s got a slimmer stock and iron sights...calls for a nice light, small objective scope to not screw up the handling.

They are discontinuing the VX-3i and replacing it with the VX-3HD, same dimensions higher quality glass.  Of course the price will be a bit higher I'm sure, but not in the range of the VX-5HD, nor the size/weight.  A few are showing up now.

Just ran into a vari x CI 3.5x10.   It was a closeout at 299.   Didn’t think twice about that purchase😬

I do know they’re in the middle of some sort of remodel or facilities change but I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it. They said they couldn’t do turrets on my scope until later this year because of it
Any updates on turret cutting delays ? I need one done also.

I think they’re still doing the cds dials, my inquiry was about a custom turret swap
