6.5 PRC Load success
« on: January 17, 2021, 07:17:47 PM »
Just thought Id share some success in one of my new hunting rifles

Browning HCS in 6.5 PRC . Took some work for sure with 3 powders and 4 bullets but finally got some positive results today

A couple of .5 MOA groups at 200 yds

57.9 gr of N565 with a 140gr Accubond at 2980 fps. Going to do some seating tests tomorrow

That's exciting. I have 140 and 156 Bergers I am going to play with in my new 6.5 PRC. The HCS is a great rifle.

Dang, was thinking that would be a 1/2 moa with factory ammo.   But good to know a load that is!

Was thinking about building a custom 300 prc but I can get the HCS complete for the price of an action for the custom and if both shoot .5 moa...... hmmm

My 300 wm in HCS is .75 moa with 200 gr Partitions at 2980 fps. Both took some work for me but I'm happy with results. I think they are pretty decent guns for the price.

I should have mentioned the 6.5 PRC is set up at .010 off the lands

I will be doing the same soon. Can you share your results? Powder, charge, jump, etc. Do you use a spread sheet?

@zwickeyman. Sorry for not clarifying. I have 100 ct 6.5 accubonds and haven't found any load data for 6.5 prc. I may need to look harder but who doesn’t like to push the “easy” button.

I tried 48321SC and RL26 with 140 Accubonds, 142 Accubond LR and 140 Partitions

This is for my Browning 6.5 PRC HCS

I ended up using N565

57.9 gr with 140 Accubond with my best group at .010 off lands at 2980 fps. I have not tried any other bullet with this powder but will try some Partitions but I would rather use them

I was showing slight pressure signs at 58.2 gr of N565 at 3005 fps and slight pressure signs at 58.4 gr of RL26 at 3045 fps
