Potholes, any open water?
« on: January 21, 2021, 09:46:42 AM »
Hey guys, heading to Potholes this weekend and was just curious how much was froze. I hunted over there the start of January and some of it was starting to freeze so I imagine with the colder weather more and more is closing up.

And cold weather is on its way

I saw that, hopefully it isn’t all froze by the time I even get over there.

Dang it, Dennis!!!
You know what happens when you reveal to everyone what your favorite fishing hole is!
I can't believe you just gone and did that!  :bash: :bash: :bash:

Tell us how it went Hoss.
Last weekend it was totally open. Nothing frozen.
Fishing was slow and hands were cold.

I was there over the weekend and Monday. Hardly any birds it was crazy. The goose spots I was hitting were empty too. It was weird. Same with the weekend before

I was there over the weekend too, it was starting to ice up in the dunes. Lots of bluebills and other divers around on Saturday, much slower on Sunday. Did not see a single mallard. Always have a good time over there even when the birds and weather don't cooperate.

Yeah it was very slow. Only killed one greenhead and on Saturday where I was at was all iced up. A lot different than it was at the start of January. Talked to an old timer over there and he said it was the worst he has ever seen it over there and the birds left 3 weeks ago.
