Spring Turkey Hunting Plans....Started in September
« on: January 22, 2021, 11:56:25 PM »
I know I'm not completely alone....just read the thread about scouting easterns now. Good advice. I keep cameras up year round.

Might be more alone in my obsession to hunt turkeys around the country but not. There are a few on here in the same pursuit. 78 more sleeps until my season starts on the east coast.... 83 until the Washington opener... 71 sleeps until the WA-Youth opener....

I "sat" last season out. Canceled hunts in 7 states and only hunted 2. This year not going to happen. The goal is 10 states ... realistically 6.

Gonna take out a second season hunter, make sure he's hooked. Goal is to take out at least one new hunter and/or youth hunter as well.

I'm excited for Spring turkey '21.... are you?

Probably my post that got you started..
But really what fired my cap was another posting pics of turkeys in their back property.
.but, yeah..
This time of year the survivors are establishing dominance.

I’m anxiously awaiting the season. I’m planning on being after them in Nebraska in April and Montana in May. I’ve never been to Nebraska before so that’ll be a fun trip for me for sure.

I am prepping for my sons WA youth season now and thinking about my own WA hunt if I can get the time off of work.  I'll probably only hunt WA again this year.  My time to hunt other states will probably come after my youngest is no longer at home.

Yeah just starting to watch spring turkey videos. Maybe I should start scouting for the elusive eastern gobblers in western WA.  :tree1:

update of season so far: My first year reaching out to other areas and states.

California trip was big success, 10 hour drive down the end of march for a long weekend adventure. Results were 3 gobblers in 3 days all on public. Never been there before but was wonderful time and great country. On turkeys right from the drop of the gate daylight first day. Oh, note to self - stay out of the poison oak next spring!

E WA swing last week , 4 days , 2 nice toms with TOUGH conditions. planning a western wa run next weekend to pickup 3rd before my ID swing mid may.

Birds have been Hen'd up and difficult, hoping that within a couple weeks the toms are more vocal and responsive. ID run is another cold call run with no prior scouting by me. with how this season has gone, i think i will add Oregon to next spring and find an area before next spring to go, south of Eugene i would imagine as the area of focus.

Congrats.  I need to make a run back to Cali.  Wife can visit family and I can turkey hunt.
