The deer was a dink,  the pack out was on gravel logging roads.  Not short but not really long.  For me it's epic because its my first true solo kill and pack out. Was just as thankful to get back to the truck though!

This wasn't my heaviest but was my longest. 8.5 miles coming out from the high hunt with camp, most of a bear and his hide in the rain. Pack weighed about 75# I think. I'll try and round up a few more.

Moose with a small badlands pack.  Sure wish I had invested in better pack before this trip.

This is the heaviest load I've had on my back. Dont know what it was weighed but it was north of 100#. Obvious elk head, full hide from a mature bull, bag of scrap meat that probably weighed 20#. Only 2 miles, all downhill. Felt good to drop that pack on the tailgate.

My buddy packing our MT bull in 19. With how many warm clothes we had, we both were right around 95ish lbs. It was 2 when we started hunting that morning.

That snow has frozen, thawed, and refrozen several times, so it was essentially an ice skating rink. Can't count the number of times we fell. Hard to see how steep it was, but yikes.

Funny how fondly hard packouts are looked back on.

Mule deer from Idaho. Killed in the head of a steep rocky nasty canyon. Biggest bodied mule deer I've ever killed. Tried to get all the meat in the pack but couldn't do it. Took as much as I could pack, probably close to 100# pack with the 25# of gear that was already in it. That was a very uncomfortable pack out.

Moose in Alaska

It’s a whole new level of physical challenge. We made the mistake of shooting one across the canyon. We were in an area where you had leave the bone in by regulations. Three 10 or 11 hour days and we had him back to where a plane could land.
