Man cave coming soon
« on: April 07, 2021, 12:12:47 PM »
I have about four years with of taxidermy coming home this weekend. I plan on making my first man cave with these trophies and a few others I already had.

Please share pictures of your man caves or trophy room/area. Iím not that creative and Iím looking for ideas.

Here are the mounts I should get this Saturday.

Yes this was expensive, and no I did not tell my wife even remotely close to what it costs  :chuckle:  :chuckle:

Work Completed by Natures way Taxidermy out of Spanaway. He knocked it out of the park with these!!

I can't afford a shop after the mounts :chuckle: But you get what you pay for

I hope to get this all into a loft that is about 16' by 24' by 8' 1/2 tall.

To the OP: Sorry to say this, but you're in trouble.  I mean, serious trouble.

When the missus sees all of these, your spot in the dog house will be permanently reserved.

Congratulations on the beautiful pieces.  You have earned your place amongst hunters!

Thatís an investment in memories there! Averaged out over the years thatís a great investment!  If that was my stuff ďpun intendedĒ 😂 I would get that bear up on a classy, wood pedestal a bit on the short side and put him along a flat wall. The sheep I would try to tuck in to a corner a bit and the moose I would put on pedestals a bit taller than the bear and then put them in corners. Then arrange furniture/prints (artwork) around them. First impressions matter. Youíve got yourself a good challenge there!! Congratulations!

Pedestals or not maybe think about getting casters underneath too.

Your man-cave is gonna be a lot cooler (and bigger) than mine.  Your trophies are a lot more impressive and those life-sized mounts are going to be focal points for sure.  I banged together some log furniture for mine.  I have no building skills, so it was a bit of an adventure, but a fun COVID project for my boys and me.
And we love our pool table.  Mamma says no bar (yet... maybe when the youngest goes off to college... )

People ask me why I spend so much money on taxidermy and not more hunts.  It is a good question.  For some it is better to do more hunts and just keep antlers (or nothing) and I don't discount that.  Every time I see my mounts, I am reminded of the hunt and time with family and friends.  So it is kinda like I am back on those hunts everyday - and for me that is worth sacrificing a hunt or two.  Framed photos are great, but standing next to a cape buffalo, or looking up at the majesty and elegance of the bull elk on my wall just makes it that much more real.

Itís kind of hard to get pictures of the overall room. I really like the high ceilings and that it is an addition to the garage so I can put smaller horns etc out there and head mounts inside. What I would do differently is make bigger than you ever think you will need. Second stupid move was not putting plywood backing behind every part of the wall. Take the bigger part seriously  :chuckle I have 8 more shoulders mounts coming from taxidermist lol. You have some great mounts there enjoy ! hopefully some others post pictures. The man cave threads and pics are my favorite

This could be interesting to get this into the stairwell. I may have to take it back to a taxidermist to have the horns ma removable. I did not have that done originally and I regret it.
