The question is whether there was a push to move manufacturing to the US or whether there was to push a bill through and this was a much cheaper way to do it?  Seems like most of it has substantial footnotes that exclude more than they include.

Wow, they are shooting themselves in the foot!

Big MSRP jump combined with loss of tax credits means extended range lightnings get a 13-16k price jump for '23.  Rest of them get min 6k price jump.

Honestly think they lost their minds.  All this talk about increasing production to meet demand.  A jump like that will kill demand real quick, moreso combined with higher interest rates.  I don't think Ford thought this thru fully.

Look at the price of unleaded, if it goes down to $3, then yeah, if it stays above $4 then they can raise their prices.  They also can't make as many as people want to buy so there is a premium there as well.  Dudes have proven that a $70k truck is doable, look at what's rolling down the street today.

Chevy is a year behind, so no direct competition from them.  Same with Dodge, same with Toyota.  Tesla....we'll nobody's holding their breath.

So, you have Rivian or an F-150.  They'll sell as fast as they can get them to the dealers.  Many states have incentives, WA is behind the curve there despite our greenie governor's talk.  Many companies also have EV incentives, a buddy just got $3k from his employer.

Gas XLT is what, $52k at the high end?  That's only $9k more for an electric before any incentives.  5 year payback with no incentives, less with.  That assumes you don't get slammed with the huge EV Inslee tax like CP did, but most people will find out about that after the ink is dry on the sales contract.

Yeah WA sure is a odd setup. For how much they/we tout we are green, the Govt has done *censored* to promote green tech in vehicles.  Sure you get partial relief in salestax on EV purchase, but NO rebate or incentive on purchase or to install charging and Registration is a good bit more $.

No wonder places like NY of all places has a much higher EV adoption and demand than here.  That is why many states got more lightning allocation than WA.  NY, TX, CA to name a few.

And with the stroke of a pen people lose ev tax credits, even for cars already on order.

Stipulations are so tight that only 17 out of 70 EVs currently available will qualify..

Oh I am/was.  I have an order in for a EV.  But since no VIN assigned I could not get a binding contract done.  A55hats rushed it thru with the active at sign clause so nobody had a chance to do anything.  So my price just in increased $7500.

Simply no good justifiable reason to kick the one requirement in on signing and none of the rest.

I am letting my order ride for now since there is a long wait.  Also hoping that maybe dealers trim back the ADM's before mine arrives given the spike in price that I am sure will curb demand.  $7500 is not a small hit for many.

I was wondering how that bill is going to cool the economy off (inflation reduction?).  I guess we know one piece of that, pass a bill that touts the environmental claims while actually not even paying the incentive you did before the bill was passed.  Best of both worlds (from their perspective I guess). :dunno:

Bummer, I hope it works out for you one way or another.

I think you nailed it the more I have been thinking about it.  It should probably have just that effect especially when coupled with the jump in Fed rate we have had, while also promoting US Mfg.  Honestly I wish they left out the mineral component, the last thing we need its co tearing up the land we have for this stuff.  Let other countries nuke their enviro to mine the ore but build the packs and cars here.

Yeah I will be fine, just a bit salty :-p  Snooze you loose.  I knew I wanted the vehicle a few months ago and should have been on it hammering dealers by phone and getting an order placed, but was not thinking I had till end of year no worries.  Plus I was being Financially responsible (a 1st for me) and paid of current vehicle 1st.

We have two Pro's at work along with 2 mach e's. I work for the State so we are mandated to have them per Inslee's orders.  They are comfortable and go fast but the range is 170 miles (cars are about 280).  Trucks take a lot longer to recharge then Mustangs.  I can't get used to driving a vehicle that doesn't have engine sound
