Mt. Spokane North Antlerless Moose
« on: July 21, 2021, 10:46:57 AM »
Here we GO!
After coming in from getting their limits of shrimp and crab last Friday my best friend and his dad (my hunting partners) received a call from WDFW. The call was to inform them that someone had returned an antlerless moose tag for Mt. Spokane North and his dad was next in line.  Of course he said yes! Being 70+ years old and this being the 1st moose tag he has drawn after putting in for 20+ years and being a lifelong Washington hunter we're excited for him.

I've done research and it appears that Inland Empire Timber permit is must. We have friends and relatives that live close to the area all who are hunters as well but wanted to reach out to my Hunt WA family to see if any additional info can be shared.

This man has taught us how to hunt and always had an open spot for me to come along at a young age and for the past 25 years which I'll always be grateful for. @Rainer10, Skyvalhunter, and others on this forum have met him and know how great of a guy he is.  I have no doubt that we will hit hard and do our best to be successful. That's our nature when it comes to hunting.  Feel free to PM or reply to this post

Congrats to him.  I had the tag in 2016.  It's a great tag, especially now that there are so few.  And yes, the IEP permit is a must.  If you don't have it, get Onyx as some of the landowners there can be a bit ornery.  I killed mine on the IEP land.  If you can, have an ATV at hand as IEP can close the roads to vehicles but will allow ATV's in (at least they did then).
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Great to hear!! Congrats, we will be in the huckleberry looking for 2 cows. Enjoy the hunt, I know nothing about that unit but I’m sure you’ll get advice.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

:yeah:   Had that tag in 2012. Things might be different now obviously but IEP was the place to be.

The IEP area is good advice.
If you get in a bind, I will help you out. My spot is a hike in and first mile is uphill so not sure how well his dad can get around.
I’m in this spot all year and it holds animals. I harvested a bull in there in 2015.

Easiest tag to fill once you find the accessible lands. Good luck

Thanks for the reply's guys.
Ya we're in the planning stages.  We also have Unit 1 deer tags in Idaho and the late General Washington whitetail hunt during the same time so we're going to be busy.
We have ATV's and UTV's for access into IEP land. We're figuring out camp location and we'll be ready to go.
I'll keep you posted

*Bump
We're getting closer.  We'll be headed over on Friday 11/12. Need to get a moose down and see if we can find my 9 year old daughter her first deer.
Anybody seeing anything over there?

@HooknoseHunter... I was born in Spokane and raised there until I was in the 6th grade. Still have family in Colville, Wenatchee, Spokane, Post Falls, and other surrounding areas. I'm an honoree Eastern WA resident.  We will find a moose...
Gotta love these kind of remarks  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

This is now a great time to go after them.  A lot of the leaves are gone and they are much easier to see.  I killed mine on Nov. 11th.  I got her about a mile south and just a bit west of the Blanchard hump.

Just caught this…
You can be ashamed HookNoseHunter! I’ve had guys help me out on here and I pay it forward. Moose hunting is no secret honey hole help. And for a older guy hunting his last years, damn right I will help!
Karma is a bitch for *censored* attitudes like yours.
By the way, I’m a graduate of a B school on the westside 😉
Happy hunting!

East or West don't matter, but nobody will be getting any tips from me this year ,for various reasons.
With that said ,I'm a graduate of the land of zero @$$!# ,where you graduated.🤔
I rather piss in the wind, then have piss down my back.
