Cedar river taxidermy and Bugs and bones were guessing mine was around 6 years old.

I know he is not getting any older.

“He’s dead”

But wait......there's no more "giants" in the Colockum....(He's dead")  :chuckle: :chuckle:

Congrats again on a beautiful bull!

I got the tooth back and the bull was 7 years old. Also got him officially scored and it grossed 375 3/8. I was hoping for 375 and a great hunt. I got about as close as you can on the score and far exceeded my dreams of a great hunt.

Elk is done at the taxidermists. I will try to pick it up next week and post some photos. Dying to see it completed.

Thanks guys.

I was talking to jackelope about this hunt yesterday. I had all year and could have done it with a gun at any point from September 1 to December 31.

I chose to go archery in September. Me and a buddy went out and just hunted. No game cameras everywhere, no scouts camping on a bull just raw hunting. I was hoping for 375 or better and after chasing tons of bulls, one over 400 just an hour before I shot this one it all came together. In the video you see exactly how it happened. It seemed like forever that it was coming in but really it was seconds. As soon as his antlers came over the top I knew I was shooting. Never even thought about score. All I could think was he is big and god I hope I get a shot.  I am so glad I did it the way that I did and so happy with the outcome and especially glad to have it all on video.

Here is the link to the video again. Title says 383 that was our tough score in the field official gross is 375 3/8.

I will post some pics of the mount when I get it back.

That video is what really makes the hunt. It is so raw. You see it all. I knew he was filming but it didn’t register at the time. I was all over the place emotionally. Watching the video back jars my memory of the phone in his hand while we were blood trailing. I was so concerned about finding the bull it just didn’t register he was filming.

When we were skinning and butchering at the kill site I was cramping up so bad. My buddy and his kid that hiked in to help pack brought more water. Without that I would have never made it out. Also I would have never been able to stand up after breaks. They got on each side of me to lift me and the heavy pack back up to start hiking again.

I was completed exhausted at 1am when he made the video during the break. I was shocked when I saw that video, I truly don’t recall that he was videoing then.

YAAAAaaaaassssss
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
