Big Two points, again
« on: August 31, 2021, 11:08:58 AM »
Seems to be another year when there are several big 2 point mulies around my place. At least three that I see regularly.  I suspect there are more around as that gene pool seems to be spreading. These bucks are all high and fairly wide, but are definitely just 2 points with no eye guards. From a distance you'd surely think they are more than just 2 points (I certainly did the first time I saw them), so best take a good look before squeezing off a shot.

Yeah I am sure that is gonna be a common theme around the mulie woods as it was what I have seen for about the last 10 years. One season I saw 9 nice bucks together. 8 were straight 2 points, and nice ones at that. 1 was a 4 point.
Always seemed my brother and I were able to fill our tags. Worked hard and feel fortunate to fill the freezer. No monster bucks but respectable.  Can't speak for the others that were in the area as they were pretty lazy who didn't hunt prime times and such, as football games seemed to take priority over hunting  :chuckle: but did notice the unit I hunted went down hill over those years. Mature legal mulies were fewer sightings each year and whitetail became almost non existent at the end of hunting that area. Definitely a good time to make a change. Name of the game is adapting and making change. Hunting hard to see success.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

Yup….poor management of the bucks in our area has led to poor genetics.  These big twos are everywhere and the state refuses to acknowledge the fact that thei management plan sucks.    :bash: :bash: :bash:  W had one on camera that has 12-14” deep forks and was 24” wide.  Probably never be anything more than a big 2.

They are super cool in my opinion. But can't hunt them. But at least it provides an escapement post season herd. That's one positive.

These two aren't big 2 points....... :chuckle: :chuckle:
Little sad ,check this cam the other day.
All that was on there for bucks was these two points.
I got ,whitetail Doe,mule doe, and these 🚫 two points.
All I can hope is something better shows ,with cold weather, and some rut action.

That buck with his snout cut off on the pic above is non-typical. Could grow into something awesome in the next year or two!

Had a talk with a warden years ago and his take on the subject was ALL hunters needed to go and make camp in the "biologist" front yard!  They, the biologist don't listen to anybody and do as they please.  Sad but the man was right!
The only good tree, is a stump!
