Which line counter reel?

Since I donated my favorite Shimano TR 100G to the deep last fishing trip
, I’m in the market for a replacement, something similar (or almost as good) but with a line counter. Something that can handle light salmon trolling but isn't too big and cumbersome for Kokanee. Any suggestions?

No experience with the Tekota but I've run 4 Okuma Cold water line counter reels for the last three years and have been very happy with them. They have been rock solid , no failures or even glitches and very well made. I paid a little extra for the " low profile " , I do the same fishing as you described and would highly recommend them. Good luck .

I've used Okuma, Tekota, Abu Garcia LC's, they all work great. Okuma and Abu are more reasonably priced, Tekota's are more expensive. Abu claims their new Max dlc/toro is more accurate at tracking the line you have out. All other LC's track how many revolutions your spool makes but as your spool gets smaller less line/rev is actually coming off so your LC is not completely accurate. I have not used these reels but would look at them if I were in the market.

I have an older Okuma that has a tendency to go random free spool which obviously isn't a great trait for trolling reels.

I run Okuma Cold Waters, the 20 size for kings/coho and the 15 size for sockeye/kokanee with line counters. Been very happy with them not a single issue yet in 50+ trips.
Bought a few at John's in Everett and a few at Holiday Sports in burlington. I prefer left handed and both places stock them. I have also seen the 20 at Triangle in Snohomish.

It's tough to plop down the $$s for it, but the Tekota seems bulletproof. They have a few at Sportsman's warehouse that you can fondle. I'm not a fan of the big handle on the larger reels but I like this little 300. Just hope it doesn't end up over the side of the boat.

I have had great experience with the okuma cold water low pros. Zero issues. Thanks hey are my favorite salmon real. Anything works for kokes.
