Tracker0721:
3 days is hardly a hunt. Almost everyone I talk to that heads up and over lone ranch sees em! Their tracks are in the road after nearly every rain. I still think they should raffle off 50 tags and let em earn the department some money. They do it with moose and I find more wolf sign then moose nowadays.

My buddy is the range rider up there, he said the department was given a 14 day window to remove the wolves. They fiddle *censored*ed around until day 11 before they even went into the woods.
My question is why are the biologists of wdfw the ones doing the shooting opposed to an outside resource? In the report released when 39 wdfw biologists were asked if they supported hunting predators, only 3 raised their hands. Which leads me to ask, was this an errand shot on purpose? Intentionally missing the wolf with a rifle would certainly scare it off for a bit and make it much harder for them to find again within their allotted window to remove the wolves.
Idaho and Montana use Wildlife Specialists to remove problem wolves; essentially private party “hired guns”. I recently listened to a podcast with the head of Idaho fish and game where he said that the wildlife specialists actually save the department money because they are so much quicker and more efficient at removing problem animals that the biologists can just focus on their main job.
Wdfw never ceases to amaze me with their dishonesty and shear stupidity.
