Update....
We came back down road . Dropped over another ridge.
Ate lunch, spotted another hunter about 350 yards above us.
Haven't seen anything move since this mourning.
Where headed back to truck.
Head home......
Maybe come up with WT plan for the evening.
Way too many hunters up here ,and not enough mule deer moving.
Real nice sunny day to be out,but not good to keep the deer moving.
I rather piss in the wind, then have piss down my back.

No action this morning for me in the blacktail woods.

No action this morning for me in the blacktail woods.

It was quiet out here. Maybe 5-6 shots. More than last year but less than other years. It was warm this morning though. I took off a layer or 2 before leaving the house after I went outside.

Had to get some property chores done this morn and didn’t make it out. Packed my little chair blind into one my spots for an afternoon/evening sit. Bring em on, the Browning .243 is ready to bark.

388 checking in. Very few shots I’ve heard all day. Spoke to a rancher last night on a final spot check. Said he hasn’t seen many deer all year, but has seen quite a few elk. Go figure.

Still keeping it "general" myself.
Actually have not even purchased a tag.
.
Archery season I could shoot a doe in my backyard, but around Halloween the bucks show up.
.
I really like seeing them in my yard, so I'll drive off to the woods to explore...
.
They stand in my driveway while I pack.
They watch me leave....
.
I hunt somewhere else, and end up with a bag of chanterelles.
.
I see a few does...
.
But the adventure of the next discovery is more important than just filling a tag.
.
I envy you guys that are out there, but just cannot get used to the number of hunters during modern rifle
.
I am thinking about getting a modern tag because I get a chance to go explore a new area...
(And Halloween...)
Last week of October, and late buck 3rd week of November) has always been, and will continue to be the "magic" time for me to see bucks.
.
But I like eating deer, and am used to bowhunting.
.
I eat does, and any other LEGAL deer.
.
..
But trying to decide, should I buy a modern tag and look for a buck?
.
Buy a muzzleloader tag so I can shoot a buck, if I see one during late elk season?
.
Or an archery tag, so I can smack a doe, and have meat?
.,..

Nothing for me all day. Moved a little, sat a little. The deer haven't been around the last few weeks in my area. I'll keep trying.
