Deer hunting and Pickers
« on: October 16, 2021, 07:19:34 AM »
Hey gang, just a reminder that the woods are for all who wish to enter them. Be careful. Some of these people aren't aware of hunting seasons and may be dressed in brown or black without wearing a vest. I've posted on several mushroom forums that it's hunting season and they should wear a vest and no brown or black clothing. But not everyone will do so.

Have a great hunt. Know your target and what's behind it.

Up where I was ,there was young couple.
Out of the truck, she was walking a dog,I don't know what he was doing.
No orange on at all.
And there was ALOT of hunters.

As hunters, it’s our responsibility to know our target...regardless of what other users of our public lands choose to wear.

Trust me ,I am fully aware that they where not my target.
Also trust me as a hunter ,there's no way I'd be up there without orange. If I was hunting or not.
I do totally agree ,know your target and beyond.

Always makes me feel like their should be a PSA about wearing orange vests or just eliminate the vest law all together.  :dunno:

I always shoot a text to my non hunting friends reminding them to wear bright colors while out in the woods from now till thanksgiving. I’ll also gently remind anyone else I talk to who says they hit the woods. Helps the image of hunters if we can be polite in reminding others to be safe as well.

Some people, including hunters, don’t think sometimes.
Had a couple of coyote hunters set up overlooking a prime and well used public bird hunting area when ‘everything’ was open. They were in full camo, spotter and rifleman.
Glad my dog had an orange collar as he went over the rise first when we came up on them.
