How do let under age people use/own guns?
cameronwe:
Hi There,
I'm asking for info on how I can help my 14 year old neighbor (Basically my nephew but not blood related) get a shotgun? He's very much into hunting and I'm as well though I have no experience with hunting. We are going to go goose hunting and rather than share my gun I was thinking I could buy one and gift it to him, or just let him use it. I don't have kids so I'm not sure how this would work. Can I even let him use one of my guns for hunting? I've been googling but there's a lot of conflicting information out there. We live in Washington. Thanks for any info that would help.

You buy it, its registered to you, you gift/sell once he can leagally own it himself ( 18? ). Until then, so long as youre with him, he can hunt with it, provided hes met hunter education guidelines. Thats how I understand it.
Stein:
Here is the exception that allows temporary transfer of a firearm to someone under age 18:
--- Quote ---(iv) to a person who is under eighteen years of age for lawful hunting, sporting, or educational purposes while under the direct supervision and control of a responsible adult who is not prohibited from possessing firearms
--- End quote ---

Find and read I594 that will answer your questions.
Section 3
Exceptions to gun transfers under subsection (4)
Don't trust strangers online to give you legal advice on gun laws.

If you are suggesting what I said is not legal, by all means, where does it state that ?
See my last sentence, "thats how I understand it", not even close to legal advice if you were so suggesting.
