I could not find that, it seems totally ignored.
I just watched it again.  You are correct, totally disregarded the staff report. They made a mockery of entire process as well as parliamentary procedures. I guess only verbal comments matter. I'll dig for the staff report mostly out of curiosity.  I'm not sure I've ever seen such public disregard for staff advisors, much less the advisory committee (gmac).

Is there a way to use any of this against them? Send it up the flagpole somehow? Parliamentary procedure is a thing and it’s a thing for a reason. If they ignored it, it seems there’d be validity in questioning the whole process.

I have crappy cell service and can’t get the video to play where I’m at.
I don’t think Jay is going to care.

Please join this group and take it seriously. There's no reason we can't boycott this state while still voicing our opinion. Washington obviously cares about special interest greenie groups more than hunter's, conservation and actual science, but above that they care about revenue. In my opinion, the only way we see change is if we hit them in the wallet.

Not buying tags is just what Lorna smith and Fred koontz want. That for sure guarantees your not going kill a bear or two in the fall or a cougar. You also will no longer going to have skin in the game. How likely are you to stay engaged in what’s happening if you aren’t keeping some skin in the game.

They’ve made it easy to attend these meetings via zoom, sportsman need to get more active and engaged.

Lots of guys are upset about losing opportunity but how many guys are going to kill some bears in the fall. You can still make a sizable difference in the predator population but most guys aren’t going to do anything about it.
I am done throwing good money after bad.  They are listening to those that don’t buy tags right now.  Why should we have too to still have a voice?

Personally I think that mentality is playing right into their hand. The more guys that refuse to buy licenses is going to give people like Lorna Smith numbers that show hunting is a dying past time in WA and they’ll just keep pushing the envelope to take more and more.

I don’t blame anyone for going out of state to hunt. I do it. The hunting and management in other states is obviously better. But I am not going to quit on Washington. The pendulum will swing back the other way. It just takes time.

They aren’t going to pay attention until they have a budget issue.  I have been bugging them for 10 years on predator control.  They don’t care.  I have done nothing but watch opportunity for bowhunters (an example) be continually decreased.  So yeah, I am done.  Good luck to them.

Bump. Meeting is tomorrow morning. Pre-register before 8:00am to speak at the open public comment period which starts at 9:00am.

Don’t know what to say? Here is a great quote I saw from Brian Lynn in an article on Northwest Sportsmans Mag.

“It’s a sad day for wildlife management when appointed game commissioners allow a vocal minority using nothing but emotion to overrule and cancel the state’s own trained wildlife biologists using accepted scientific principles and methods,”

We need to get on all of these meetings and at least make our voices heard. I am going to talk about how public opinion is not a sound way to manage fish or wildlife. I will also ask how the decision to stop spring bear hunting for 2022 helps fo fulfill the WDFW's goals. I would also like to ask how Lorna Smith's vote does not advance a personal agenda, given her written statements about fair chase and spring bear hunting. Mrs. Smith seems like she is advancing a personal agenda and violating section C item 2 of commission operating principles. There are other operating principles that were not followed for this vote. Section C item 4 During Commission meetings, Commission members shall submit any requests for a commission action or agenda item to the Executive Assistant at least one month prior to a scheduled meeting, so that it can be discussed during the future meeting planning agenda item. That did not happen, it was voted on much less than a month from the time it was introduced.

Is there enough whiskey around to get through the whole meeting :chuckle:

It’s pretty clear that some of these folks don’t care about wildlife. A health wildlife population isn’t their objective. A few of them don’t believe we should be hunting at all…that’s the long game they are playing.

Good show on the meeting. Thanks everyone, probably no changes but they have heard plenty from the hunting community.
