I drew the quality rifle tag this year. I was unable to get the Weyco drive on pass but was able to the walk on permit during a secondary sale in July or August. I was only aware of that because I emailed them and asked for an exception.

I scouted like crazy and saw a good amount of elk. Prior to the season I saw two nice 4 point bulls and ended up taking a nice 5 point on day 4. I should mention it was on the public DNR portion and well off the road. It was my first bull and I definitely consider it a good trophy for a WA hunt.

It wasn't a give me by any means but it was a MUCH higher quality hunt then I'm used to in the Siouxon unit. I can't say I saw any other hunter even parked and out of the truck which is strange because it's not that big of a unit.

Thank you. I forgot to mention his hoofs were in great shape. No sign of rot. All the elk I saw looked good and healthy. No limping at all, which I was definitely worried about coming into it.

Thank you guys! It was very steep but work able. That's awesome Madmax! I really like the area a lot and would gladly go back.

The only negative feedback, and my advice to whoever draws next is: expect active logging and trucks starting at 3am so get a good CB and pay attention to the mile markers. Also expect a ridiculous amount of 4 wheelers once the snow hits and the sun goes down. They came in dozens.

I should give a shout out to Hockman. He gave me, a stranger, more advice about the area then most would give. It helped a ton especially starting out
