best way to keep 2006 silverado from getting stolen?
« on: December 02, 2021, 11:33:59 PM »
So, last year I picked up a pristine 2006 Silverado.
I live in an OK neighborhood, but the truck sits outside.
A few vehicles get stolen occasionally.

Jackalope's Superduty thread scared me.

WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO KEEP MY TRUCK FROM GETTING STOLEN?

Thanks.

I was hoping for something a little less drastic.

Get your sleeping bag and pretend you are hunting. That’s your new home.

Your advice is not as good as your apples.

Ok, just take two tires off, one front and back.🤣

You can get and rfid immobilizer. You shouldn’t need it though. Ford made those years of trucks VERY easy to steal.

Don't they make some alarm out there where after the truck starts you need to push a button to defeat the theft device.  Basically once the truck starts if the alarm isn't deactivated the truck will shut off and it won't start again.  But maybe the thieves are onto these and can get around them.  It sucks to have your stuff ripped off, I hate thieves

If memory serves me right at one time there were  power and fuel shut if switches that could be installed , if you are real serious about preventing theft of vehicles, Amy such options still around?

You can install an ignition kill kit that has a small switch hidden somewhere in the cab.  When you park, you flip the switch and the ignition won't work until the switch is turned off.

I think you can also install a kill kit connected to the factory alarm, probably some place like Car Toys would be a good place to start.

Just buy a tracking device so if / when it gets stolen, you can track it.   Easy cheap solution.  If I owned a Chevy I would leave the windows down with a key in it….when it got stolen I would buy a dodge.   :yike: :IBCOOL: :chuckle:

On the TS-6 position chip, one of the 6 can be a “no start/anti theft”, I’m not sure about the compatibility with the Chevy tho. Those trucks really come alive with a good tune.
