I dont know if this belongs here or a thread of its own or if posted elsewhere already.  But here is an example of what we are up against.  Just had this pop up on facebook.

A site / group called Not My WDFW whos aim appears to end hunting.  The site is factually untrue, but in today's world probably somewhat effective.  Their goal is opposite of ours in the Commission appointments as well as the Director

https://www.notmywdfw.org

Not sure what to do or can be done but thought I would share.  Would seem that an opposite well-crafted and balanced social media campaign would be something to consider.

It's infuriating how they constantly refer to us as "trophy hunters".

I continue to believe that the longer Jay takes to fill the committee the better off we are.  I'm not sure why hunters are encouraging him to act fast.

We are better off ,right now.
That's why the anti people are pushing Jay to fill the seats, pack the Commission .

Agreed, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone to see what kind of people he nominates.

I've been through the last couple of pages of this thread. Without having to go through the entire thread, where do we stand on this issue? Is there in fact a closure, still, of the spring bear season? And we have sent petitions in to WDFW to open a season, and we're still waiting for the commission to change it back to open?

Spring bear is still closed
4 formal petitions have been sent to the commission and are slated to be heard on Jan 21 at which time the commission will have to formally respond.
There is a slim chance that procedural rules may allow a "no" voter to call for a revote, external to the petitions
Contact the commission before the 21st and try to schedule public comment for the meeting this Friday since there is no comment allowed on the 21st

If you haven't submitted and signed any of the petitions you can find the links within this thread. Please take the time to do so.

As of 01/10/2022 at 2:39pm, we need 14 more signatures to reach 20,000 signatures on the Change (dot) org petition:

"Bring back spring bear hunting for Washington State 2022 season"  petition.

If you have not signed the petition, please do so.

If you know anyone who would be willing to sign the petition please ask them to do so.

Would like to see the petition reach 20,000 signatures before the Open Public Comment period of the Jan 14th Commission Meeting.

You can see the petition at:

I received an email from RMEF today addressing the special meeting on January 21st to review the decision. Here's a link to the RMEF page, scroll down and click on the "take action" button, which will open up a new window.  Please take a moment to add your information to the preformatted letter and send it to the commissioners to keep the heat on them.
