Does bear spray work on moose or just piss them off?

I could see it going either way, depending on how serious the moose was, how much spray it got hit with, and a 1000 other factors.

Just walk away slow.
Only one time did I ever have a close call with a moose.
Pick up a rock little smaller than a golf ball .
Hit it in the chest ,and it ran off.
I rather piss in the wind, then have piss down my back.

I had a cow + calf get too close, threw rocks at her.   It took a lot of rocks bouncing off her and she was makin noises

So I dunno   each one different I think

That is not a surefire solution.

Never tried the bear spray and I prolly wouldnt unless charged. One night my hounds went off and would not shut up so I went outside in just my boots and underwear. Had my trusty dog beater in hand. When the flashlight caught a cow moose feeding, she looked at me with a "look at the tough guy in his shorts and boots " look. I turned around and went back in.  I do get a lot of moose in my game cam pics. One spot I've had 5 for the last 3 years. Cows with calves included. I'm very careful there.

I agree it's definitely not a sure solution.
But all I had was rifle or rock and at the end of the day moose walked away alive.
But ya not saying it's perfect ,it did work for me one time.

Seems to me most moose in Alaska are familiar with the sound of a revolver being cocked.
 :chuckle:

Had one come out of a lake with her ears pinned back. She did a quick 90 and ran off when I pulled the hammer back.
