Ellensburg cougar hunt advice
« on: December 17, 2021, 04:16:28 PM »
I get a few hours away from the family tomorrow morning (12/18)...looking to take a walk and call in a cougar.  Any advice where to go would be appreciated.  I have a jeep and am willing to walk a several miles for the right spot.  Thanks!

Sounds like a solid plan to me.

The only other option you have is to find a fresh track, and then follow it while barking like a dog.
A remarkable experience is one where the pain is forgotten so quickly, the frustrations and struggles are forgotten the minute you’re done.

I can’t wait to do it the next time.

Just follow the track until you find a lion at the end.  If you bump him, keep after it.  They won't go far.  Keep walking until you get your shot

Look for tracks from the vehicle
Be careful if you bail and follow
Deep canyons and a circling cat are kinda sketchy with the weather that’s forecast
The cats will be around the feed (elk)

anywhere in the canyon will give you at least a chance at a cat.  They're in there killing lots of deer.  Make sure you wear neutral gang colors so you don't get shot in a drive by.

Get up at 230-300 am in the morning and drive until you cut tracks!! Stomp
Them out and then make a circle drive on the surrounding roads to make sure he hasn’t crossed. Then pray the other 5-10 other guys  doing the same don’t jump your track at daylight . Only thing holding you back is common sense and fear . Just a little hint not much cat sign down lower country  yet .  Good luck and have fun

I guess my buddy's dog tree'd this cat in their yard for a minute this AM and it split through the neighbor's yard when his wife pulled the dog inside. This is along 97 near Teanaway. Could be some good trackin out there!
