2023/24 Chevy Silverado EV
« on: January 05, 2022, 03:33:39 PM »
Big reveal was earlier today.  Anyone get to watch it, put a reservation in on one?

Pretty funny they do a reveal almost 2yrs before it will launch.  Yeah, no chance they are trying to steal some of Ford's momentum and media attention...

That said, some nice specs and while I never cared for the avalanche, other than that I like the styling and interior imho is much nicer than the Lightning.

Don't like the avalanche styling.  Will wait for off-road version.    They did the Hummer reveal a year ago and it sold out immediately.

Not liking the wimpy honda type look the ev's are going with so far..........

Man, I thought that wing thing over the side of the bed had gone the way of the dodo bird.  It immediately looks outdated to me.

Yeah that's the 1st release fully optioned rig.  Pretty much the most expensive one they will make.  The lightning not much better being mid $90's with lower (claimed) range and slower charging by half.

Those are pretty much the #1&2 issues with ev.  Range and charge time, if Chevy backs up their claim they will have significantly outperformed Ford.  As in no contest winner.  I am a Ford guy for most part (driveway full of them, Lightning reservation holder) I just like them better, but I also have a suburban we love.  Based on Chevy reveal info I reserved a Silverado now too and will see how it plays out.

I saw a show today that TFL did with the chief engineer of it. She says they’ll have a work truck version later next year for $40,000. Still expensive if the work truck is still a stripped down version like the work trucks I'm familiar with.

Ford has the Pro version that is thier work truck.  It is actually pretty loaded for a work truck.  Other than the rubber flooring and cheap vinyl seating it could be considered a mid/lowmid level vehicle more than a work rig.  It will be interesting to see how Chevy compares once they start sharing specs on each trim level going forward.  I watched the vid again with family tonight as well as a Car&driver walkthru.  Even more impressed and leaving Silverado a bit.  Pricing will interesting to see, right now on paper (all Mfg claims so bag of salt) the Chevy beats the Ford.  I also find the interior much nice visually.  You can tell Chevy spent time and designed it all together and did not just throw a big LCD in an existing dash.  It has really started to sway my choice.

Overall it’s a nice truck. I like it. The swept back cab design doesn’t work for me because I need to be able to put a canopy or tool box on the bed & I need it to be 8’. Other than that I like it.

I am there with you on the sloped back cab.  I never liked the look with the avalanche.  At this point though, that is the only negative for me.  I was unsure about the 60/40 fold down, but with a canopy or the weather right tonneau cover it is quite intriguing

There will be canopys for them, there were for avalanche.  I think the reveal vids showed some sort of service truck type tool box setup as well.
