2011 Dodge diesel pickup any good?
« on: March 30, 2022, 08:55:45 AM »
2500, Cummins, automatic transmission, 4wd

Any known problems? High maintenance issues? Built in time bombs?...will it last forever?  :chuckle:

Pretty solid year I think, typical steering parts wear and somewhere around that vintage there's an issue with cracking injection lines, but I'm unsure of the years for that.

If it has electric fuel pumps like FASS, aftermarket air intake and the exhaust manifold looks orange/brown I'd walk away

PM me the VIN, I'll get the estimate for ball joints and track bar ready.

Ha!

Step son was driving a a diesel truck for work and really loved it. Ever since, hes wanted to trade his 1500 gasser for one and the right circumstance may present itself. All I know about diesels is the repair cost threads that pop up on this website from time to time. I hate to see him get into a truck that he really can't afford to maintain.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

The only good times for a dodge is when a Ford owner is towing it.

Umm, don't they know those lights are supposed to be unplugged?

My old Dodge hasn't had a check engine light in over 20 years,  and won't ever have one  :IBCOOL:

I have a 2011 with zero issues. I also have a 2001 that I have done about everything on it. The 2001 has all that Banks stuff on it and a Billet parts transmission rebuild. The 2001 with the 5.9 pulls just fine, the 2011 with the 6.7 pulls better.

Where did you get your transmission done at?

Thank you for your private message.

My step son ended up getting the pickup last Friday I think. I haven't seen it yet in person . He texted me on Saturday and said, "Diesel is expensive"  :chuckle:

He said he ordered a delete kit for it. A far as I know, the pickup has only 80k miles and is all stock. So hopefully this works out well for him. I'll report back after i get a look at it.

Again, thanks for all the replies...even you Ford guys.  :tung:
