I had the permit. hunted hard first full 2 weeks. warm weather(moose dont like heat) THICK country. saw very few, called alot and only had 1 interaction with a dinker.
hunted 2 more weekends after the 1st 2 weeks and killed a bull then.

I had planned on having a later week off to hit it at the end if needed.

I agree with others advice, once the leaves fall they will be easier to see, save some time for then.

Most of all have fun!

I wouldn’t waste my time. Just turn the tags back in.

I had the tag in 2018. I hunted the first 8 days and we saw 19 moose. 10 bulls, 7 cows and 2 calves. Saw two good bulls.

Went back after Thanksgiving and it was tough. We saw a cow and a dink bull the first 5 days. Others we talked to were seeing moose and in their opinion good bulls, but we managed to avoid them. Got lucky with two and a half days left and killed a crazy big bull. There was another good bull with him which another hunter killed the next day.

Bring tire chains or a snow machine in the late season.

I’m not a moose expert, but I would definitely be there for for the opener. We had decent luck calling and of course spotted some chasing cows.

Anyone have a number to a biologist in that area besides Annemarie Prince?  I’ll give her a call but with the Selkirk tag in ‘19 she was pretty vague.

Unbelieveable, the wife and son in law drew this with 11 points combined.  They drew cow moose last year in Huckleberry, I drew bull moose in 2019 in selkirk.  I've hunted the republic area in the past for deer but never saw moose.  So I'm reaching out to anyone who is willing to help with some intel???  We will be putting boots on the ground and gas is going to be a killer, but looking forward to hunting moose again.  I've heard this is the land of big bull moose, just don't know where to start.  Thanks for any help huntwa family.

I don't ever want to hear you bitch about drawings again!

Heading over to scout early tomorrow, leaving west side at 2 am.  Heading to republic, my question, best way to get there?? Isn’t there a ferry you have to take if you take 21? If, how early does it start running?? Coming from bonney lake, taking I-90

I'd just head up to Tonasket and go east on 20.

thank you for those hours! Heading over Sherman so bobcat, is your way still the recommended way? If I remember correctly, if you miss the ferry it’s about a 45 min turn around?

Or longer if theres a line and you miss the first ferry (small boats).  If going east of Sherman, look at 21 to 25 north to Kettle then west to the east slopes of Sherman.  Any way you decide, nice drive, scenic and pay attention to speed limits in the little towns.

Couple questions from a wet sider, just before chelan and the bridge, are all those boats fishing for kings? Also, why cover up the fruit trees, looks like a ton of work??
