Great video by Randy Newberg regarding legislative hunting laws and how it affects non-residents.

Very informative and will cause draw odds to get even worse.  Kind of depressing what is happening across the west to be honest.

Agree 💯. There are a lot more hunters now a days. The exodus of WA hunters to other states due to our crappy hunting is part of the problem. Other western states have the data and know how popular their states are, so why not raise prices and make money off of us…business. Also, their residents know that out of staters flock to their state and hunt “their” animals ,so they lobby their legislators to reduce tag numbers for us and raise them for residents. You can't blame them, but it sure sucks. A lot of non-residents will never draw and lose that money.

⬆️ i have to agree with that. When I’m in Eastern MT I see the Wisconsin and Minnesota rigs everywhere. Everyone likes the West.

Better plan for even more creep than usual, especially Wyoming elk. I would guess at least 2 points more to draw in 2023 than 2022.

Maybe I'm no expert..... :dunno:

Old Randy may be trying to scare ya into burning points.

It's always the sleeper points ,the faster you get rid of high point holders the better .
Those sleeper points are a killer,if you can even cause a small percentage to burn them,it may help you in the long run.

Like said maybe I'm totally wrong,I don't hunt out of state. :dunno:
Two birds in the Bush is always better than one in the hand-that way you can always go to the Bush and hunt another day .conservation=Better hunting.

I'm sitting on 3 maybe 4 points.  All I want is a general elk tag I guess.

You can’t go with a general rule (just burn points). I am sitting on almost 300 points across 9 western states for deer, elk, antelope and sheep. While Wyoming is planning on increasing the price for Special Elk tags, after applying for 17 years, it’s a small price to pay for the possibility of a great bull. Points used to be cheap, but even at $50 per point, I would jump right back in the game if I draw this year. Wyoming has a lot of opportunities.

I am in point burn mode, but not due to legislation. I am burning because I’m 56 and at some point I will no longer be able to do the points justice.
