You have to understand that the wildlife commission is against hunters! The commission has been compromised by appointed members who are opposed to hunting, as a result they will support keeping as much anti-hunter input as possible no matter what state or country it comes from so they can use that input to support their anti-hunting agenda.

All we can do is input as much as possible. I'm sure the anti-hunting groups are encouraging members world wide to help stop hunting in Washington!
Americans are systematically advocating, legislating, and voting away each others rights. Support all user groups & quit losing opportunity!

Yup.  But, I'm gonna have my say.   >:(

 :yeah:

Here is the current commission, bold voted for hunting last time:

Barbara Baker
Molly Linville
Jim Anderson
John Lehmkuhl
Don McIsaac
Tim Ragen
Melanie Rowland
Lorna Smith
Kim Thorburn

So, we would need all of them plus a fifth vote.  The only place anyone I have read sees that as even a possibility is John.  That said, his latest comments centered around the notion that spring bear isn't a big deal, just hunt them in the normal season (ignoring that there are spring areas not open in the general season).

I think the only hope would be to come up with solid reasons why spring hunting is such a big deal and get those directly to John.  He basically wants to know why we should hunt bears differently than other game and be convinced the regular season doesn't provide enough opportunity.

This should hit them all, I didn't see anything for him specifically:

commission@dfw.wa.gov

I'm going to point out that we do have hunts at different times of the year, archery elk during the rut is a good example of when we stage a hunt for a specific part of the animal's annual lifecycle.  We also hunt grouse in the spring, so a hunt not in October/November isn't really unique.

There is also the damage aspect, but I'm not sure if that will get anyone worked up.

Does anyone know offhand how many of the spring hunts are in areas open during the fall?  All/some/none?  I could check but am feeling lazy.

Not making this a tribal issue but is this because of better management or?

Unless I am misreading this there's no daily limit or season limit but opened year-round in the north half.

This is not an issue between the CCT and Sportsman. This is between the Sportsman and your governor and his game commission.

Almost hate to type this because it didn't seem to be well received by some the last time I did, but I'll keep trying.

I believe that Baker could become a yes vote if this was made into and managed as a damage control hunt.  She is very concerned with public support in her decision making.  The public supports a damage hunt, they don't support a recreational hunt.

I'm working on getting information to present to them to emphasize the damage control aspect, but the more they hear about it the more likely they may be to turn their thinking that way.

Totally agree.
I have no problem with the north half and what they do.
Our problems our with our governor and the Commission members he appoints.

 :twocents:
Maybe they need to hear that a compensation program needs to be started for timber company's,since they have decided to not manage spring bear.
It hurts more if your decision costs the state money.

It's an absolute madhouse. For some reason all the antis are women over 40 who really care about things like feelings and individual bears. They're convinced bears are some sort of unicorn that will dance with them and have a soul bonding moment. Dont get me wrong bears are magical animals but I care about bears as a whole, not one bear with a cute name.
