Last week they were testing the system and there is a malfunction. They could not get the system to stop selling tags when the remaining number of available tags was up. The decision was made last week after not being able to resolve it that they would have to release the tags to the next in line. They will take all the X number of remaining tags and offer them to the next X number of remaining people. Those people have 1 week to buy. Then the next X number of remaining tags to the next X number of people in line. They intend to do this every week of the deer seasons until all tags are sold.Do you know if they're going to call or email? Probably.not snail mail.

According the regs it’s like it has been in the past
As I mentioned, I spoke with WDFW at length on this. My primary concern was they published one process and changed to another after the special permit draw. I, like many others, based my entire deer special permit application strategy on what they had published and knowing that if I was in line on time, there’s was nearly a 100% chance I could buy a leftover multiseason deer tag OTC. I have a pretty premier summer buck spot that I “pay” for with immense tractor work and other help through the year. I have been hunting for years on this spot with a Sep archery tag and I’ve already done the brush work with the tractor, set the blind up, etc… I’ve hunted this spot long enough to know that after about the 3rd week in September all the bucks disappear. This year I bought and applied for rifle special hunts in dream units after not getting drawn for a multiseason deer tag because I knew I could buy one if I got in line early. To change it after the draw feels like a bait and switch. I would have bought archery if they had tested their system, discovered this problem earlier, and announced the change earlier. Now they are saying it may be after the archery season is over before they sell all the multiseason tags based on the process I layer out in an earlier post. Pretty ticked by this.
I am 100% for WDFW charging up front the full cost for the multi season tags when you buy the permit application and if not drawn you get refunded the tag cost. Weeds out everyone who isn't really serious about wanting a multi season tag. I'm talking about the same couple thousand guys who don't buy their tags every year they're drawn... Other states do this with certain tags and it works great for the guys who are serious about it.
Go to a dealer and swap your tag. You just have to do it before the season starts.

Im for paying for it up front and they also dont need to give people almost 4 months to buy the dumb permit. Give them a month to purchase after the last day to submit permits and this could all happen months earlier.

Seems like it could be into hunting season. Then at that point how many people would even want it? I would happily pay up front and let the state collect the interest while they hold my money.
