The Okanogan Deer Book
« on: July 02, 2022, 08:06:31 AM »
Does anyone have a copy of 'The Okanogan Deer' by Don Zeigler? Published back in the 70's I believe. I'd love to take a look at one or buy a copy if you're willing to part with it.

Thanks!

A relative of mine has an autographed copy, and yes with the shape of this herd(numbers wise), the predator explosion and loss of habitat in crucial migration corridors this book is way outdated. I will admit it is interesting to look at time to time for old times sake but on the other hand it’s depressing to see how far this once mighty herd has fallen. Shameful is my word.

It is a WDFW document, might be fun to recite a little at a commission meeting

I have the book, Bought it back in late 80s. Had a tough time getting it then.
Trust me. The mule deer Migration they had back then is over!
Never to return.
Thats what happens when Lib tards buy 5 acres in the valley, clear it for their horses and remove
all the Bitter brush. The main staple for winter feed. Oh, and those same people who want more predator's.
So sad.
Guess I was born 15 to 20 years late to catch the glory days of Mule deer hunting. Any where!

I'd to love to get my hands on one if you'd be willing to part, or even just loan it out for a bit. I'll shoot you a PM.
I know so much has changed with the herd and the landscape which is one of the main reasons I'd love to get more historical context on how things used to be.

Things sure have changed since that came out. Insert predators remove deer

I have a couple copies of this book as well. One is autographed that I would like to keep but i have another that is slightly "worn" around the edges . It looks like the OP got one from mazama  so I will give this one to the next in line which looks to be LDennis24 , pm me your mailing address and I will send it to you.

Thats a great offer 👍, I have Two that are autographed by “ people who are special to me” also, they will not go anywhere 😆. Wish I had a few that were not signed but I don’t.
