No Campfires, Means NO CAMPFIRES
« on: September 26, 2022, 06:31:42 PM »
Did a little camping, scouting etc. over the weekend!!

I counted no less than 25 campfires on National Forest.
346 area in little naches area. These idiots should be fined big time.  Or lose their entire livelihood when they catch the place on fire.
I kill elk and eat elk, when I'm not, I'm thinking about killing elk and eating elk.

It doesn't matter what you think...

It's a whopping $230 fine for violating a USFS campfire ban in Eastern WA. Been that amount since 2008.

I yell at people all the time throughout the summer having fires. Most of them from the westside. Drives me nuts.

I was nervous about lighting a warming fire in the cabin, when temps got into low 30°.  Waited until I was done putting new metal on roof.  Put Mr Heater to work for a couple nights.  Can't get metal siding on quick enough.   Hearing saws running again after a couple days of rain makes me nervous.

Well I was heading in for the high hunt and saw 3 guys in the wilderness area standing around camp just off the trail. When I came out 4 days later I thought I would swing by their camp to see if any garbage was left behind. Low and behold there was a new campfire ring with fresh ashes. Some people just don't get it. When fires are prohibited it doesn't mean that doesn't pertain to you!! :bash:

Yet you can head to Idaho and Montana and have campfires with active fires burning in sight  :chuckle:

At least those campfires weren’t as dangerous as the burn the Forest Circus lost in New Mexico this year.

I think a few of them I’ve seen this year were more active then those active wildfires  :chuckle:

So we are at this point every year the past few for muzzy. Don’t t bother me I don’t have to cut wood to keep four tent stoves going. Just take the buddy heaters.

But I was in a state park on Saturday and a county park in Wenatchee for four days and there were lots of folks sitting around those propane fire pits . So are those allowed?

I do t own one nor do I intend to buy one just curious.

I camp up deep I. The timber for elk so sure don’t want some fire to get going.

There was a burn ban in MT when I was there a couple weeks ago on NF.

In MT where I was we had torrential rains probably 6 out 13 days. Snow in the high country. Somehow it seems to be WA thing about campfires. Go to ID and there campfires everywhere and rarely bans, yet WA it gets earlier and earlier. Hell this year I saw a burn ban in May! we had 6" of rain where we live in June

Was thinking the same thoughts.  I don't recall so many burn bans as a kid.  Maybe some of the older folks could chime in?  Did we even have burn bans 30 years ago? They have trained us to accept some of this BS and then get worked up when we see someone not buying into the nonsense, and following the rules.  I guess out of all the fires on here mentioned, how many started a wildfire?  I am not advocating breaking the law, but these illegal fires sure have ruffled some feathers.  It is exposing that we can drive minutes across a border and it is acceptable, but in this state we get all wound up.  Reminds me of how quick they trained us washingtonians to wear masks and get mad when people werent following orders, but minutes away in Idaho no masks.  No matter the laws, stupid people will do stupid things.  Lighten up a little:)

The era of entitlement and law suits.  Legislate away the risk along with our rights.
