My first whitetail buck!
Perfect representative of the species
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

AS THEY LAY 2022

My wife’s first mule deer. She shot it from 400. It made a short run over the ridge and out of site. We got over there to peer over, and this is what we saw! The first picture was taken at the top of the ledge visible in the second pic.  As always pictures never do justice for how steep it was!

Here's the story:

My dad shot the 2x2 and I went looking for a safe place to cross the frozen river so we could retrieve it.  About 15 minutes later my dad found me and said that there was another buck on the hill about 100 yards from his.  I went back to the spot where he shot his from and my buddy pointed out the 3x3 walking on the hill.  By the time i got it in the scope it was walking with a purpose and I waited for it to present a good shot.  Well wouldn't you know, it walked right over to the dead 2x2 and started fighting it.  I fired off a shot, but missed.  My buddy went and grabbed the shooting sticks from the truck (yes we were right next to the road and the fence provided a perfect backstop).  Once I got the sticks it was over, dropped the deer right there.  Was fighting the dead deer until its last breath.  The picture represents exactly what we walked up on, you can see the blood spot on how far the 3x3 had pushed the 2x2.  Dang thing just kept backing up and ramming it even though it just laid there dead.  Was definitely a once in a lifetime thing.

Sounds like they knew each other... :chuckle: :chuckle:

One of the coolest AHL pics I have ever seen. 8)  Definitely the most unique.
