Idaho 2022
« on: November 21, 2022, 07:37:26 PM »
Decided to try a new unit this year and it didn't turn out quite like we were hoping terrain wise :chuckle: this unit was steep but we made the best of it. We all tagged out and I rattled in my buddy's biggest buck yet, he came storming in! Hell of a fun week with the guys and lots of memories made!

Nice!

Without naming the unit, what general part of Idaho were you in? I was in Elk Creek for the 14th - 20th and it was a total bust with only 1 buck down out of 6 hunters after a week of guided hunting, and that buck was a baby.

I was in 10a and yeah that snow was brutal. Crystal clear skies, temps as low as 1f, couldn't take a single step without it being so loud that you had to wear ear protection just to walk. No deer movement whatsoever. I think my team (myself, my spouse and our guide) spending most of our days split up covering more areas saw a total of less than 20 deer in 5 days, only 2 of which were bucks.

And the wolves were busy in 10A where I was at. Found two wolf kills the first day I was there and they hung around for a few days.

You did great, especially in a new unit. You won't want to do anything but rattle from now on  :chuckle:

Central Idaho, never stepped foot in it before and don't plan on going back there anytime soon  :chuckle: we just got pretty lucky I think  :chuckle: we didn't see alot of deer, found areas with lots of sign but I think 90% of the movement was at night. We seen a warden one day and he told us someone got a wolf in the area we were but we never seen any, was hoping to with a tag in my pocket.

Thanks 3nails, rattling sure is a blast when it works  :chuckle:

Well be right down the road, probably going back to our old unit again. We'll swing on down and see how things are going  we appreciated your help this year, we wouldn't have done as good as we did without it  well have to meet up for lunch and go over some rattling
