Birdshooter,
I recommend not holding behind shoulder for your scenario.  Hold on shoulder and you'll never have to retrieve them.  A perfect heart shot can take some time to recover.   :twocents:

.223 rem 53 grain V-Max. It stopped and was facing away, I hit a bit left of where I intended ha.

Nice.  I'd be skeptical of that caliber and bullet penetrating deep enough to hit vitals form behind, but the evidence speaks for itself.
Definitely, was aiming for a neck shot when she looked back. The 223 vmax isn’t a sting Texas heart shot candidate.

[/quote] Doesn't have to be. It's not pretty but the "anal vitals" is the second largest concentration of veins and arteries in the body. If you thread the needle it's into the vitals. Left or right you're causing massive trauma and blood loss resulting in a quick kill, often as fast as a heart shot.

Birdshooter - What is your camera setup?  I've got a red light and was wondering if I could get it set up like that.

Good input. The fragments from those varmint bullets do make a hell of wound channel.

Love the 53gr Vmax!

I probably shoot more 53gr Vmax than any other bullet.  Load them in my 9tw 223AI and 12tw 22-250 and they're not only very accurate but they are deadly on coyotes.

Emptyhanded: Looks like it still got the job done!  What caliber/bullet did you shoot it with?

Here's another I got last night.  I'm not sure if people are getting tired of these videos, but here it is:

 Definitely not tired of coyote kill videos. There must be a bunch in your neighborhood. I think I have them thinned out n my area. Could be other guy’s targeting them too.

Birdshooter - What is your camera setup?  I've got a red light and was wondering if I could get it set up like that.

I've used a couple different camera setups.  For a few years I was using an infrared camera scope kit called "Megaorei 2".  It has an infrared/full color daytime(with a switch to toggle between the two) camera that mounts to the back of the scope. There is a wire that connects to a LCD screen on top of the scope. This model has a micro SD card slot and a button on the back of the screen to start and stop video recording.  I then use an infrared illuminator with it. The kit comes with one that works ok out to about 30-50 yds.  With a good aftermarket illuminator you can see much further. ~150 yds with Odepro. ~300 yds with Sniperhoglights Coyote Cannon.  I posted a picture of this setup in the second post on the first page of this thread. These kits can be a bit finicky to get the camera aligned with the scope. And some scopes have IR blocking lens coatings that make them not work well with IR. Cheapest ($30-$80) scopes seem to be best for me.

All my night coyotes until post #64 on page 5 of this thread were with the Megaorei 2 Digital NV setup.  I recently got a thermal scope, Pulsar Trail 2 XQ50 LRF.  All my recent shots have been with that one.

Red light might work ok with the megaorei 2, but a IR diode illuminator paired with an IR sensor will work much better.  Red light won't produce anything similar to the thermal.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep sharing them as I get them then.  I started getting self conscious that I was posting more than anyone else and I'm sure others are shooting as many or more than I am.
