Looking for: Old quad or dirt bike to work on (new mechanic)
« on: January 25, 2023, 08:19:20 PM »
Hi,

Located in Snohomish County

Just looking for something to fix up/tinker with in my spare time.

I'm fairly new to working on bikes/quads so probably not looking for a Harley or anything like that. ..
Maybe an old Honda trail 90 you have laying around, Suzuki quad? I don't know....weird frankenstein-build mini bike you're Dad left around for free that you want taken away? Maybe I can fix it up and ride around with the family on it....

What do you have with two or 4 wheels that will fit in the back of a pick-up truck? (I don't have a trailer)...Gotta be some little bike or quad project someone here will part with....

Thanks guys!

those old honda trail bikes (90's ect) are collectors items now.. crazy expensive if you find one to fix up or in running conditions.

Are you looking for free? If not i have an older suzuki quadrunner 4wd that was a runner but has not been ran in a year or so, carb clean and you would be good, then you could fix the brakes and headlights etc if you wanted, not free but id sell it for $500
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

2 stroke or 4 stroke?  You can pick up some late 90's 3arly 2000's Honda TRX400's for about 2k, and they'll be in decent shape, but need some minor fixes.  I just bought one for 2,600 and it only needed a new seat cover and a new valve cover gasket.

If you're looking for quads that are 125cc and smaller, there are lots to be had for under 1,500 bucks.  Fixer uppers for around 800 or so.  Facebook Marketplace is where most of them are.  craigslist is kind of a joke nowadays.

The old Honda trail 90's are stupid expensive, even as a basket case.

One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset
