ATV use?
« on: January 31, 2023, 08:37:47 PM »
Always hunted the west side. Thinking of going east this weekend to do a little scouting around the potholes area for yotes. Can't seem to find any answers online, I was just wondering if anybody could tell me if it's legal to drive an atv on or off the roads around there? Say I wanted to set my truck tent up in any of these "dispersed campsites" and then use my quad to putt around at night to different coyote stands. Either way I think I'll head over there this weekend to check it out. Was just wondering if I could get a heads up from anybody that hunts over there. Haven't been able to find much about that specific area on the internet

Edit to add - Can't upload pics for some reason. A few of the campsites I was looking at on OnX are Fidesco- Harris, Frenchman Hills ect and some of the other parking lot campsites around that area

Edit again I figured out how to upload pics.

Welcome!
I haven’t been to that area in quite awhile, but I’m sure someone knows.

I believe the area where orvs are allowed is closed to firearms.   Where you can hunt is closed to orvs.  I've spent much time over there but never looked up county laws regarding this,  but that seems to be the practice.

Pretty sure ATVs must have the on road light kit, and proper license to use the public roadways in Grant County. No green dot trails around the Potholes, lots of off road access at the dunes on the north end of Potholes on Sand Dunes Rd south and west of Moses Lake
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Thanks for the replys everybody! I'm headed over there Saturday to check it out but it sounds like I'll have to leave my quad at home and bring my e-bike.
