Duck Taxidermist?
« on: February 04, 2023, 06:56:37 PM »
My son shot a nice Eurasian on the youth hunt! My research points me toward Seth Lane or Pat Bradburn for the mount but thought I’d ask here for advice. Any ideas would be great, thanks!

Don't know about Seth Lane, but Pat Bradburn has done some good work for me.

Congratulations on your harvest,  please share your mount when finished.   Eurasian  Widgen are pretty cool to see here in Washington.

I have no taxi recommendations, but what a cool trophy for your son.

I'm glad you're getting it done.

It will be special for him his entire life.

Peter's Taxidermy is in the process of retiring and not taking on any new work. Seth Lane does great work, but I doubt he is taking anything else right now as i think he is backlogged well over a year.

Thanks for all the replies. I’ll post a pic when it’s done, sounds like it will be a while. He shot this duck right at shooting hours and had no idea what it was due to low light.  We knew the flock was wigeon but he just took the first good shot after his brother started the party on another bird. Pretty lucky shot!

I’ve got two there right now, had them in the freezer until late sept. Should be hopefully getting the call in the next few weeks and see how they turn out. The gal that does them, the birds they had for display and pickup looked awesome!

I would take it to Seth Lane.  He is probably the top in the state and produces some great looking birds.  I saw mention of Whidbey Island Tax., you get average looking birds that look like mounts.  Do your homework on this one if you want to invest into a good mount.  Your looking at probably $395 for a decent one.  You can ship it to Seth and probably catch someone that is traveling to the west side to bring it back when completed.  Lot of guys send all their work to Seth.
Cut em!

Thanks for all the ideas. I’m in Arlington and it would definitely be nice to stay local but it looks like Seth is the guy for the job if he’ll take it. I’ll reach out to him this week and see. If I’m going to have it mounted, quality is the highest priority.
