My kid went on a ride along with a game warden and he said that something similar is in the works in WA as well.  The warden had mentioned a shed season to him.  But from what’s been happening state wide I’m sure there is a fee to coincide with the “season”.

Rest easy....just think of it like purchasing a carbon credit to offset the harm you are doing to nature........

I don't see shed seasons/restrictions as any kind of money grab.  It's the result of too many people causing too much of an impact to a resource...plain and simple.  UT, WY, CO, ID, probably others - all doing something or seriously working to put restrictions in place re: sheds.  Winters like this make the necessity of regulation relatively evident.   :twocents:

Yet, statewide impacts over a few areas of trouble.

Sheds are far and few between here, I’ll continue walking around getting my exercise

Increased regulation won't do anything to help the problem in my opinion.  All it will do is put more money in the regulator's pockets and keep the law abiding shed hunters out of the woods until later. The a holes that harass wildlife (already illegal) and chase the animals hoping for fresh sheds will continue to do so, regardless of seasons or permits. Just my  :twocents:

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

What actually should be done is to make it illegal to buy and sell antlers. The commercial market for them is what is causing the problems.

reading an article, short one, in eastmans magazine today. sounds like wyoming is going to charge a 21.00 fee for a nr shed hunting conservation stamp. they also proposed legislation to allow residents a weeks worth or nr free shed hunting in the beginning of the season. both passed unanimously and doesnt appear its not going to go into effect. im guessing that wyoming is going to start buttoning up everything here sooner than later against nr everthing :dunno:

id post the article but now sure how.

What I don't understand is ,"it's bad for the resources"
Deer ,elk,moose,
But it's ok as long as you pay us.
That's part of the problem ,I thinks.
Someone always willing to let you harm the resource for a price.
I agree ,no market value.
Alot of this would go away.
I'm not buying no shed permit.
Berry permit
Mushroom permit.
Maybe they should hand them out for free.
Just to bring awareness to times of year that is not harmful to animals.

I guess that's what I'm saying.
Give shed permits for free.
Enforce the times of year that it's appropriate to shed hunt.
Should be free with licence purchase.

Why not a permit to buy and resell sheds before they do a gathering permit?

Next up a permit to gather shrooms? Huckleberries?

Whats the reasoning for thanking the "corner crossers"? Were they non-resident shed hunters that corner crossed?
