anyone else get the email from WDFW yesterday that special draw applications are now available to purchase...yet the regs with the permit numbers and details won't be available for a few more weeks? Kinda greedy on how they want our money now, but will let us know what we can apply for later.

Same with fishing, your license expires and you get to buy a new one before salmon seasons (or lack thereof) are set.

I think a few other states do the same thing with hunting.

You don't have to buy the applications now. You could wait until the day of the deadline for submitting applications, which is still nearly two months away.  I did purchase mine, since I wanted to get a new fishing license I bought everything at the same time. However, this year I only got two special permit applications- Quality deer and moose. Giving up on all the others that I only have a couple points in.

I'm a none of the above guy this year. I'll be points only for deer, elk & moose as I have a couple hunts on the books in the Yukon & Alaska already.

Sweet.
Moose selected for me now.
Anytime I hear ghost point ,or no app at all is music to my ear.
I rather piss in the wind, then have piss down my back.

I have purchased my general licences.
I'll wait till the regs hit,can see permit numbers.
Based on numbers and such ,some I will ghost point or apply.
Some will purchase and others not purchase based on permit numbers.

Due to the cost, I split my stuff to buy into two purchases, license and then permit apps later.  I'll apply for everything I can except doe, second deer.  I've learned years ago not to expect to draw, even with 28 points.  Yeah, in the back of my mind I feel I'll draw with that many, but reality always slaps me in the face.  Always an exciting time of year when results come out, lately been helping on some incredible hunts.  Have my hat in in Wy for elk, New mex elk and possibly oregon elk, Hoping for the multi elk tag so I can Pick one eastside elk, with a westside elk.  Bull tag will also be one east and one west choice.  Not too excited about deer, seems the population isn't at it's best and not sure I want to put my 19 points up.  Good luck to all, except those choosing my units, I hope you don't draw unless you have over 25 points  :chuckle: (Laughing but mostly serious, can't stand it when low points draw). (yes, I'm seeing a therapist about that, lol).

Super lucky start to the draw cycle has filled up my calendar quickly. AZ Elk tag and NV Mule Deer tag in November, trying to fill both bear tags in WA in August, and trying to squeeze 3 days in Wyoming in October. I will still put in for moose and goat in WA and sheep in MT, UT, NV, AZ, NM, TX, WA, CO this year, if I get lucky on any of those OIL tags, NV gets turned back. Good luck to those in the draw!

Getting slapped in the face with moose tags is nothing to complain about!  :chuckle:

Going to try Idaho this year, first time.  Drew a general OTC deer tag back in December.
Hunted Montana in 2021 and went with my daughter last year as she was drawn.  Between the past drought in 2021, grasshopper plague in 2020 and 2021 and now a horrific Winter this year in Montana...think I'll pass.  It's gonna be a tough year over there.
I'll just cross my fingers here in WA and see what my 16-25 points gets me... NOT SELECTED I'm sure.

I am done with this state.
Even with 20 plus points for Bull elk, cow elk, moose and sheep I am done.

Gift them to me then 😂
They won’t do you any good!  Maybe increase your odds to .00001% instead of .000001%.

Anybody know if you can gift points in Washington? Had a buddy move out of state with alot of points and no intention of using them. I know some states you can, but can't find any information if you can in Washington.

No you can't. I've never heard of any state that does that. Would be a very bad thing.

What bobcat said.  I have a buddy who left 20 points on his quality elk, wish I could grab them.
