I know I'll get flamed ,and the horse beaten for my next comments.

They shouldn't even have multiseason.
Multiseason is just our state and king inslee being greedy.
Selling off opportunities that will end hunting faster.

That's just my opinion. :twocents:

If you draw ,you have to pay for the tag.
Lower the amount of tags for deer.
No left overs ,like if someone returns or doesn't buy,it doesn't become available period.

Sorry I shouldn't say anything at all sometimes.
Makes no sense to me ,with ungulate population so low.
And continue to drop year after year.
To continue some opportunities such as multiseason or at the very least lower the amount of tags given.

I'll give an example.....

Hunters are super worried about the Blues ELK right.
At the same time ,hunters want there multiseason to hunt those same elk 4 months out of the year.
Doesn't seem right to me.

Like said flame away ,get the pitchforks and let me have it.
Oh and good luck in the draw.
Just another way to pay more.
Multiseason in my mind is the reason anytime and I mean anytime ,ungulate population is in trouble the very first solution WDFW will have . Is permit season will be applied.

Have a great day
Good luck
Mike

hunter399...I see your point, but a bit over-dramatic to be honest...hunters who draw the multi-season elk do not get 4 months to chase elk in the Blues. They get 12 days in Sept for archery (spike only), 7 days in Oct muzzy (spike only) and 9 days Nov (ok, last 3 days of oct, and 6 in Nov) for again, spike only. Plus, not all of those who draw the multi-elk will hunt in the Blues, in fact I would guess very few (yes, it's a guess) given that there are better opportunities elsewhere. Also, the deer population in certain areas is doing just fine..blacktail for example, (there are recent studies on collared blacktails showing habits, and deer behavior...one doe lived in 20 acres for an entire year, while most lived in a quarter section or so). what is hurting the deer is urban sprawl, such as hobby farms in the Methow valley, and track home developments in Western Wa.

Maybe they need to restrict certain areas with the multi-season tags, such as not valid for the blues, or do I dare say, the Methow valley units for mule deer. that would put more focus on hunting herds that need to be thinned (like western Wa elk with hoof rot) or healthy deer numbers such as blacktail. but less people would apply, and even less would buy it, and as you said, which I agree with, it is King Inslee and the state's greed...they would lose too much money.

Personally, I see this state going to a "all draw" system like Oregon for the east side...and eventually the west side, when they see how much more money they can get from application "fees" (tax).

Multi season elk doesn’t affect elk populations in the units that are special draw, like the blues. On the Westside where you have more OTC elk units to hunt, those populations are fine. I don’t think multi elk tags play any real part in the down fall of elk populations, but I’m nobody special.

There are a number of us who put in for mulitseason for less nefarious purposes than to hunt every single opportunity across the state.  My property is in GMU 133 which has really tight general deer seasons for all weapon choices.  Getting a multiseason deer tag allows me to hunt on my own property by myself in early archery season, with my kids during early modern, and then one late season whitetail muzzy opportunity.  It's a way for me to hunt my property throughout the fall with 0 impact to the general hunting community.  I have really enjoyed the MultiSeason option.  Albeit, it's definitely not perfect.
Introduce someone new to hunting this year.

How many elk multi-season, 1,000?  What's the success rate, 10-12% max?  So, 120 elk are killed on a multi tag.  Of those 120, how many guys would have been successful without the multi?  At the end of the day, it's a bunch of money for the state and less than 100 more elk killed statewide out of what 4-5k elk shot a year?  That's a 2% increase.

Hunter 399, I cant help but agree with you on most of your points.  Its nothing but a money grab for our greedy state politicians. They originally went to a three weapon season in our state due to the large masses of people and the limited hunting opportunities and herd sizes.  Now to go back and do what they are doing at a time when our access and herd numbers are even way lower than when they initially introduced the three weapon seasons seems to make no sense at all.   You will get kick backs here because people want more opportunity (including myself) but that is nothing but pure human nature.  I don't know all of the answers but this is nothing but another way to get one more drop of blood out of a dried up turnip.  Not to much more to say about it all. its like all government programs, you might not agree with them but you have to play the hand you are dealt so I don't fault anyone for applying for them, but that doesn't mean the system isn't broken and all screwed up!

wow that's disappointing odds. I was hoping to draw this year with zero points.   lol

You absolutely could.

You get a point when you buy the application, so everyone starts with 1 point.  Back to zero when you draw.
No everyone starts with zero “bonus” points. 1 application. Then you get 1 point, next year 4 applications.

Most folks are limited by their obligations to work and family and can't hunt the whole season.
They will try to get out for the weekends, and that's about the most they can hunt besides a solid week or two during their preferred method.

A lot don't even use all the time and different weapons they can use either. If the season drags on they just bag it.

Did anyone catch you must by your multi season tag if drawn before special permits this year?

Where was that posted? I did not see anything suggesting that. Unless you wish to apply in different weapon categories for the special permits but that has always been the case.
