Everett Boat Launch
« on: May 22, 2023, 11:43:47 AM »
Looks like I can get old guy discount for an annual pass.  Anyone ever have any problems with the annual pass?  Makes me a bit nervous since they don't actually issue a pass.  They go by license plate only?

I just hang that WDFW Vehicle Access Pass you get with your license at any boat launch I go to...Haven't had any issues yet. Is that not actually valid for all boat launches? (I imagine it's not but, like I said, haven't been ticketed or anything yet)

You have a great run of luck going.  You should buy a lotto ticket.

It must have been a while ago that you didn't get a ticket with the WDFW pass at Everett.  They hire a third-party company that drives a car down the rows with cameras that scan the plates and issue tickets.  You have close to a 100% chance of getting a ticket during fishing season as they make passes through the lot all day.

I forgot to pay once, realized when I was just passing the Coast Guard cutter, turned around and already had a ticket on the window.  I was able to talk my way out of it thankfully as it was obvious I came back to pay.

I often use the app and haven't had an issue, I assume the annual pass would be the same.  It's all computerized and goes by license plates.

Hopefully they will fix the washout stations for the amount of money they collect daily.

If it's not parking tickets, Everett police are there to do inspections and check plate expirations as well as WDFW fish checkers and wardens.  Of course the Navy patrols as well as the Coast Guard.  It's not the best place to get away with anything.

Discover passes work at boat launches managed by DNR and WDFW.

I use the WDFW pass at the Langus Park ramp in Everett, so things may be different there. Also use it at the Mercer Island launch almost weekly in the summer and no issues. Used it at the Snohomish downtown launch last winter a lot.

The Port of Everett has contracted LAZ parking to orchestrate the parking arraignment for the 10th street boat launch and the other parking at the port since 2021.  I have bought the annual launch pass for the last 10 years and it was great until LAZ took over.  The annual launch pass increased 65% when LAZ started in 2021.  In the two years since LAZ took over I have received 4 tickets at the launch even though I have had the annual launch pass and every time they claimed their system was down when the scanner was going by.  LAZ scrubbed the 4 tickets with no issue but it takes time to follow up with them.  I have asked why they were scanning while their system was down and I have yet to receive an answer.

As far as I am concerned LAZ sucks, they are just a large nationwide corporation that does not care about individuals or any local community for that matter.  I wonder how many people with annual launch passes receive tickets and just pay them thinking they did something else wrong.  Receiving launch/parking tickets with an annual pass is a scam in my opinion.

For what it's worth LAZ has an F rating on the BBB.

Thanks Shrimper, that is exactly what I am worried about.  I don’t want to have to sort out bogus citations.

I’ll stick with the Mukilteo launch.  Anyway, I wouldn’t know how to launch without a foot of loose gravel, massive boat wakes, and a ripping current.

Last year laz renewed my annual pass without me even asking for them to. Just saw the charge on my credit card. Definitely not a easy company to deal with.

Even though LAZ sucks the pass sure makes it nice to not have to stop and deal with the kiosk.  As much as we use the launch the pass defiantly saves us money so we are greatful the port still offers it.

Well, I'm here to rant about LAZ parking again and gather some anonymous information from other users.  I can't be the only user that has had issues with LAZ parking.

This last weekend was a new experience as I received an expired tabs ticket from LAZ parking, has anyone else ever received this ticket at the Everett Boat launch from LAZ?  This will be the 6th bogus ticket I have received from LAZ since they took over the parking enforcement duties at the launch in 2021.

As in an infraction...what jurisdiction did they issue it through...
Unless those guys have a limited commission and an agreement with the city I don't see them issuing legitimate infractions...but I've never dealt with them before..

It is listed as a citation and LAZ is contracted by the Port of Everett to enforce their parking policies.  I will be contacting the Port of Everett tomorrow to state my displeasure with LAZ.
