Idaho OIL moose tag came today, But
« on: June 12, 2023, 06:37:37 PM »
My Idaho unit 55 moose tag came today so i put it next to my Wyoming area 2 mountain goat tag and took a picture, just because how often do you get to see two tags like that together. Thats when I noticed something odd. The days to notch the date of kill are 1 - 16 on the left side, 17 - 31 on the right side, Months Jan - Jun across the top and the V's to notch the other 6 months are across the bottom but there are no months in them. The season is Aug 30th - Nov 23rd and I dont know where Jul - Dec are lol

I just called Idaho Fish & Game Headquarters and they were aware of the issue but thought they had caught them all before they went out but apparently some slipped by. They said enforcement was aware of the issue and it was still a valid tag and to just go ahead and notch the appropriate place for the month with months being read left to right, July on the far left and December on the far right.

Thats ridiculous, how hard is it to just mail you a new tag? I would get that in writing if I were you, sounds like a good way to get pinched for something stupid. Especially when the adrenaline is flowing, "wait did they say left to right or right to left?" hmm..  :chuckle:

A couple buddies of mine are dealing with an honest mistake infraction right now and lets just say the state of Idaho has not been nice to them.

I'd just use the notches where Nov and August are supposed to be. :dunno:
Or go to there main office or something before the hunt.

Well, after 2 weeks of hunting I notched my tag. Just moved camp down to civilization so maybe later I can put the story together.
