WTB Federal 209A Primers.
« on: September 13, 2023, 10:13:40 PM »
Hey all, looking to buy some federal 209A shot shell primers for my knight ultralite. I plan on shooting BH209 so the Winchester 209s I have now wonít work. If someone close to the Buckley area has some they want to part with, Iíd like to buy em from ya!

Itís a little further than I want to travel at the moment. If I donít turn something up as the season draws closer, I would say itís very close :chuckle:.

Sounds good just let me know. FYI I'd be willing to trade straight across for those winchester 209s my cva prefers them.

Have you tried the W209 with blackhorn? I know they aren't recommended by blackhorn but I'm pretty sure I've heard guys running the W with the Leigh defense breech without issues and have less blowback and stuck primers. I'm not sure I'd worry about it in a pinch unless you've tried them and getting ignition problems.

The ones I have are the triple 7s, everything Iíve read says they arenít suitable for the BH209. Iím sure normal winchesters would have been fine. Since Iím just starting with this gun, Iíd like to go with the recommended primers by BH209 just to ensure everything is good.

Ah, gotcha. Makes sense, you have an amazing muzzleloader to work with. Good luck!

I have quite a few Fed 209's I'd part with but I'm on the wrong side of the state for you.

I'm not a muzzleloader guy so I don't know but is there a difference in the Fed 209 primer you use in shotshells versus the Fed 209 you'd use in a muzzleloader?

I shoot standard Winchester 209 primers out of my knight disc extreme with Blackhorn  209 with absolutely no problems.  Bare primer and I've. never had a misfire.  I'm not talking about the winchester MZ primers.  Just the standard shotgun primers.
