Cow Tag GMU 346

My 78 year old dad pulled a cow tag for GMU 346. I was wondering if anyone has an intel on the area or where people typically have seen elk. We typically hunt 340/342, but this area is new and I would love to get him on an elk as this is probably one of the last times we will be hunting. He's a good walker, but at 78 there is a good chance we won't venture miles from the truck. This is for modern season.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all!

Shouldn't be a huge challenge, especially if there is snow.  Look for new tracks at daylight, follow them and see if you catch up or if there is a bedding area close to the road, many times there is and you can camp out there and wait for them to come back.  Game cameras on trails might give you an idea on timing.

I would also drive the roads and talk to the special tag and/or spike hunters for intel.

There are tons of pocket meadows fairly close to the road.

hope for snow, gets elk moving & migrating.

at 78-yo, get out of the vehicle and check out all the little cuts, canyons thoroughly. Just not a few minutes but glass it out.
You'd be surprised how many people drive past elk, road hunting along in those areas. Often, I've spotted a cow or 2 that way in 346.
