2024 Seasons Decisions & Announcements
« on: January 18, 2024, 11:42:04 AM »
There have been a couple threads regarding the 2024 seasons, when do we think they will be announced? The list of decisions they may consider for the year looked huge.

That is if I'm reading the information correctly

I'm guessing the conservation policy decision at the end of this month will impact some of the recommendations(primarily predator hunting).

They should have something in draft to the public by at least mid February, to give the public a chance to comment by mid March and final adoption early April.

My two cents, minimal changes for deer and elk, predators are a whole different ball game.

If they put bear tags up for sale, do we rush to buy them so we can say we didn't know the season was cancelled when the green shirts see us packing them out at the trail head?

I don’t think it will be an out right ban on fall bear right away; even though that is what they’d like. I think this year you’ll see a 1 bear limit and a September start date.

They have been putting it off for awhile now.
The old GMP plan will be a guide line till then.
But the longer they take on the game management plan, the bigger the changes will seem.

Being limited to 1 bear a year would be a real bummer. Even worse is having to wait until September..

Yup that's what our commission just agreed too.
September 1 opening,1 bear bag limit.

One step forward,two steps back.
They could of at least kept the August 1 opening.

So ya agree 💯 percent. Real bummer.

That's going to cut the harvest down.

Is that state wide September opener or just going back to east side September 1st opener like it used to be?

I'm no expert,I'd have to look at that petition again.
But I believe so, statewide September 1, one bear bag limit.

From what I have heard ,I think the Conservation Policy is held up for this year. I doubt they can satisfy four or five Indian tribes this year.

Well we been hunting the muzzy elk and modern deer setting up camps.

Thinking of setting up Bear camps now and spend a week or two just targeting predators.

Retired got lots of time.

Wonder if it's gonna effect Archery.... :dunno: :dunno:
Having a bunch of guys bear hunting on the same opener.
Bear hunting is getting more popular.
Bunch of guys out with rifles, all up in your hunt.
Ohh well ,our commission has it all under control, right. :chuckle:
Oh wait I forgot, WDFW don't care about the quality of your hunt..... nevermind.... :chuckle:
