Mentioned it before, but not sure why I'd want a smaller suv type (SUBARU, Rav 4, crv, etc) when I can get a Maverick. Better seating, much faster, great gas milage snd considerably less expensive.  Way more versatile -try getting a 4x8 piece of plywood, or that new chest of drawers in your little suv let alone a gas can or dead deer.  41000 miles on ours, wife loves driving and have hauled stuff (including 3 grandkids in the back seat) that we could never have done with our previous subaru or crv. Just my opinion

Thanks for all of the advice. I'll take a look at the Rav4.

Rav is a great small vehicle. CRV is also. Haven’t had an equinox but we’ve had an Acadia. Designed to fail, constricted oil passages, worst lemon ever.

I haven't hunted in 2 seasons and I'm selling it to Carmax for $33K, and getting a Chevy Equinox. They're paying the sales tax on the new car, too. So it's almost $36K, which isn't bad for a truck I've driven for 5 years and bought for $41K. Going to miss it but for the kind of hunting I'll ever be doing from now on, the crossover will fill the bill. Fuel efficiency is almost double and I'll get $13K back besides. Nice to have a little buffer in the bank until rates start falling.

I am really sorry to hear you have not been able to hunt the last couple years.  :sry:
Part of me keeps my pickup just to justify me continue hunting,  :chuckle:
It sucks getting older at times.

If it concerns you, the new Chevy's do not have Apple Air Play or Android Auto. They all have Chevy's on sucky entertainment system, and they charge a subscription fee to use it and On Star.
Not everyone cares about that, but it would be a deal breaker for me.

I had the 3.5 and hated it. Lots of gear hunting, at higher altitudes it couldn't stay in 6th at freeway speeds. Add a headwind up high and it wouldn't stay in 5th even. I had a '17 and it came low on transmission fluid from the factory. Techstream doesn't accurately measure it, need to manually do it and it's a sealed unit - dealership job. I was in Colorado when I had mine, so maybe your results down low are different. It annoyed me so much that I got rid of it after a few months and got a 4Runner, which was worlds better!

Please get a Rav4 instead of the Chevy. Equinox ranks like 23rd out of 26 in reliability.
dont get me wrong here I’m a Toyota guy all the way. My wife has had 2 equinox’s for work rigs for the last 6 years. Not one issue with either :dunno:

i work on them daily, would never own one

Equinox is spoken with disdain in some circles. Mostly circles of mechanics gathered around one.

I really only need my big diesel truck for hunting but sometimes it's nice to have the hauling potential for projects or whatever comes up.

I have purchased 2 chevy’s in the last 6 months and they both have Apple Car Play and you don’t have to pay for On Star for the Chevy app to work. You get 3 years of the Chevrolet app for free with purchase of the vehicle.

I ended up getting a 2017 RAV4 with 50k miles. Having it checked out at the mechanic tomorrow. Extended warranty and Carmax gives 90 days for the basic warranty. Hate giving up the Tacoma but appreciate the mileage already. Thanks for all the input.
