GROUSE WITH HANDGUNS, Part Deux!
« on: July 27, 2024, 07:42:09 AM »
Six or seven weeks and counting...now's the time to break out the rimfire and start practicing.

Take your rimfire pistol along on short hikes. Find impromptu targets such as cones (fir or pine), maybe chunks of bark, practice taking a rest on the nearest object, such as a low branch or just the side of a tree trunk. Go to the range and work on your marksmanship.

Learn to hit what you're shooting at. This isn't difficult.

Watch for my column in the September issue of Northwest Sportsman.

SURE IS!  Guess what I've been doing? Pistol is a Ruger MKIV, 5-in bull barrel, adjustable rear sight. Ammunition 40-grain RNL Winchesters and 37-grain plated hollowpoints. Pistol is bottle-cap accurate.

As soon as I stopped looking for bears and started looking for grouse this weekend, they were nowhere to be found...typical. Plenty of them around here though. "Grouse Mtn" sounds like it might be a good spot to try  :chuckle:

Been shooting with the new can and it is too much fun. Would love a Mark IV 22/45 lite but it's considered an "assault weapon" in WA
