I have 5 points, and this may be my only chance to hunt this year other than turkey due to an upcoming late summer deployment. Not sure if 5 is enough to get me into a decent unit but I imagine it should be. Just need to do some research and see what my options are.
God made man, Samuel Colt made them equal.

I applied. Do they always draw on the 20th or are they more like Washington where it's approximate? What are the good units?

All are good units. Just depends on how much work you wanna put into them. They draw on the 20th pretty sharp.

I applied for SW area. Anyone know why it's closed within one mile of the Rogue River down there? That's right where I was going.

It's been that way for a long time - probably because it's an extremely popular recreation area through most of October. I think it started because people liked being able to see bears along the river, back when they were less common most other places. ODFW proposed allowing hunting due to increasing conflicts back in 2020, but they quickly abandoned the proposal due to public feedback. Sounds like the bears are getting pretty habituated now and causing quite a few problems.

Oh yeah I guess it's for the jet boats. I haven't seen much activity along the river near the coast anyway, other than those tiny excuses for deer.

I haven't spent much time in that area other than floating the Rogue, but it sounds like there are lots of bears throughout that area. It has one of the highest success rates, as I recall. Hope you have a good time if you draw! I'll be headed to the opposite corner of OR this spring, unless the draw changes a lot.

Son and I are both in with 6 points, prefer to only get one tag, but would take 2 over 0, we will see what happens.
