lincoln sheep 09

lincoln sheep 2009 taken 9/19/2009 top of sterling valley very top. Hunted 5 days found total of 62 or so sheep finally found bachelor herd with 15 rams all 3/4 curl or better they were sparring hard could hear them from river hitting horns. Took 3 hours to get to them from river. Hunter made perfect shot with 300 wsm ram went 50 ft and piled up.

very nice im lovin the sheep pics, not to be a downer but i just dont see 178" of horn on that ram got any other pics with different angles or closer up? i wouldnt complain one bit if you posted more pics, and a story was the hunter a friend or relative of yours?

Are you a guide 25wssm?  Just curious.  If so what do you charge?  Nice ram.  Also where is everyone gettting 178"?

Congrats on a fine California Bighorn!  Sounds like it was definitely well earned.  I used to watch those sheep pretty closely when I traveled over Highway 2 alot.



The "178" reference comes from a post on the California Bighorn post by 25WSSM:


"the lincoln sheep tag was filled on saturday      nice ram guessing 178"

Might be closer to 158".  Thats what normally gets shot in that unit.  Lots of rams for only one tag.

I agree lots of Rams..Also there are 3 different groups that I know of.  Only one gets hunted all the time.  Great population however so is the human population growing down in that area..lots being carved up and sold all over.  I wish they would buy some habitat for the sheep down there before its all gone (occupied)   :twocents:
