Sorry, don't know about bobbies.  I can tell you, though, if you want to make a domestic cat lose its mind, put it in a pet crate you've used to transport a few possums!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Im sure your heart was pumpin seeing that door shut.  Keep at it, cant wait to see some success pics.  I have been on trapperman drooling at all the cat pics.  One guy caught a full grown cougar and had to release it.   :yike: :yike: :yike:  Luckily it pulled out after it saw him approaching and he didnt have to do the catch pole rodeo.

Honestly I used to LOVE catching possums.  I like their winter time fur.  We used to get $4-$10 a hide for them in the 70s.  I was never disappointed when I heard the chain rattling in the dark, it was always better then not catching anything at all.  :)

Don't think it'll be much good for bait.  The ones I've dumped always were left untouched or pretty much untouched.  Same for any member of the weasel family.  I'll have some beaver traps out the week after Christmas and will see what I can do for bait for you.

Only thing I have ever seen eat an opossum is another opossum.

Hi Rasbo,  give me a call sometime and we will talk cat trapping. 509-435-1831. As far as the myth that opossums are not on the east side of the state I have caught several north of Spokane.  Another thing is if a person should catch a cougar, contact the gave dept. or the state patrol and they will contact a game.  I have had it happen once and they came out and tranquilized the cat, removed it from the set then gave it a antibiotic shot and left the area guarded so no one would disturb it.
I was control trapping by auburn a few years back and got a frantic call from a home owner that i was working with.  She said I had a bobcat in my box trap.  I rushed up there and found a possum in the set.  Poor lady couldn't tell the difference.
Catch you later and have fun
I've slowed down enough in my old age to finally let the game catch up to me

One in the rig now, would have been two, but someone decided they wanted the 2nd and the trap :bash: :bash: :bash:  Still working on that issue  :bash: :bash: I'll see what I have in the morning.  Still working on details with the boss of getting them down your way.  I may have a better solution though.  I'll make a call to a trapper in Rainier and see what he does with his beaver carcasses.  He usually catches over a hundred every season. You would have to go to his house, but still closer than meeting me halfway.  I'll let you know.  That was your cell you sent me correct?

Blanked the last two days and now the boss says I'm on her time for a few days. :bash:  Made a few phone calls on the stolen trap and critter to folks in the area the keep an ear open and reported to WDFW too.  Not much they will be able to do, I was just hoping the #$&^*^&$! would call them trying to turn the trap in or something.  That would make my day. :mor:   Won't be able to get the one I've got to you before it gets too ripe, but still working on that other lead for you.  If I get a couple of fresh ones in the rig, I'll figure a way to get them to you.   :sry:

Don't know of anything critter that will eat possum. There are so many other things that will make better bait or attractor scent. Even skunks would be better. Just bury them upside down with the feet sticking out of the ground. I've caught fox using this method.
I'm been wondering if bears would eat possums.
Perhaps when the maggots go to town on it, it will attract birds.
