When I am going to a new fishing spot ill spend some time searching google and mapquest or google maps. Make a plan of what spots your going to hit and it won't break the bank in gas $. The chuck can be good at times. Don't forget your nightmare jigs. ;)

You missed the Skookumchuck Steelhead by about two months. Can't imagine there would be any decent fish left in that river. I would head to the Cowlitz if you are looking for a good chance at Steelhead.

When I am going to a new fishing spot ill spend some time searching google and mapquest or google maps.

Also if you have a portable GPS you can download locations and hot spots from other anglers!

The last time I fished it was about 3-4 weeks ago and the fish were too dark to keep.

well the general concensus is that the steelies are too dark to keep this time of year on the skookum. thanks everyone for the help and info. hopefully i can get at them this next winter then.

I usually fish it right behind my house or up at the dam. There's tons of great slots and holes up there. However, your a bit late. I went a week and a half ago and caught several but it started petering out since then. I was there Saturday morning. Only caught and released one and lost one bright one right at the bank. It's pretty much over now, most of the fish are pretty dark.
