New to the area
« on: April 29, 2011, 05:14:39 PM »
I recently moved here from the midwest and am used to shed hunting on private farms and small wooded areas...  Its a whole new ball game out here!  I have no clue where to even begin looking for sheds... What area hold what animals, Elevation levels etc... I live in seattle and want to take advantage of the beautiful pacific northwest wildlife!  Im not looking for someone to tell me their hot spots, but a point in the right direction would be really nice and helpful.

Also, when do morels pop out here?  My family is already finding big white morels in Indiana.  Some advice on morel areas would be appreciated(i realize no one want to give up their spots)

Thanks.

Welcome to the beautiful state of WA, sorry you live in the state of seattle :chuckle: You will find out what I mean by that in time.  I would call a bio in an area you would like to hunt in and find out where the elk in that area winter, and that's where I'd start my antler hunting.  Follow the green up area's when the snow melts off, this year might be different with the really late snow's.  I'm no mushroom expert by any means but when I draw for spring bear I find myself picking loads of morals in the blue mountains during the hunt, it's kind of distracting but those things are great.  I haven't done any good at all on the west side of the mountains for morals.  Good luck, and welcome to the site.
